Live First
The BBC reports on a trend brought up years ago in the A Lesser Photographer Manifesto:
“The habit of taking photographs, usually with our phones, of anything and everything is everywhere - instead of enjoying things or engaging in them, there is a growing habit just of photographing them. It is as if first hand events are not real unless we have a photo, and can experience them second hand.”
A photographer’s (or any artist’s) vision is made more interesting from experience. Why? Great photography is just great storytelling. Great storytelling evolves from a life well lived. Live first.
