Amateur Media Will Win
I’m doing an annual pruning of my photo blog reading list. It’s an audit of the blogs that have been interesting and the blogs that have proved useless. A trend is emerging.
I’m getting further away from group blogs, big publications and networks of photographers/writers. I’m finding the best blogs in any topic are individuals with a distinct view.
Seth Godin backed up this reasoning recently:
“Amateur media tends to be a lot more personal, unpredictable and interesting.”
I find that to be absolutely true. If you have an obsession, don’t seek permission from others to publish your views. Own your content, stop sharecropping on someone else's platform and get your stories out there.
